The Castle
After expertise of the architect of the
Buildings of France, it seems that certain works should be realized
first and foremost to strengthen what remains. In particular the chapel
which is one of the rare "rooms" still standing of the
building. This chapel was built in a square tower, the former
main entrance of the castle certainly, and the most ancient
part of the building. This chapel will benefit from the first campaign of restorations
led by the new owners.
The works are important, and it will at first be necessary to
rebuild the framing and the roofing to waterproof walls. Then, everything
should be made by outside scaffholdings because the internal access does
not allow a traffic of construction site : release of masses of fallen
rocks, reinforce the feet of vault, the vault, recumbent effigies,
etc.... Fortunately old photos of the chapel are not missing.
The ivy which is visible on the photo has already
disappeared largely. The advantage with regard to the castle is that walls
were coated, the ivy did not infiltrate between stones. It is so possible
to force a bit its fall... Estimates are expected which concern the
pose of a framing and a coverage as well as paving stones
on three levels. Without speaking about locks naturally...
The baker's oven faces the house. It is
in better state: it is necessary to admit that an association had restored
it about twenty year ago. Vandals and the nature gave
it its current aspect. The project is to reconstruct
it and (why not?) to make it work again !
